Capcom has decided they will try their own hand at indie gaming. They’ve decided to bring localized Doujin games to markets around the world. To do this they’ve formed a partnership with Nyu Media.
Capcom is trying something different on the Indie scene. We don’t normally think of Doujin games as being indie games. However this is mostly in western countries. Doujin games certainly fit all the requirements to be indie games.
So what does this mean for us as players? We’ll get to see some indie games we haven’t played before. We’ll also be able to get some fresh voices in western gaming.
Nyu Media is a company which specializes in the localization of games like this. They plan to bring high-quality versions of games formerly available only in western countries. However when we tried to access their site we got a strange 403 forbidden error. We hope this is fixed soon. They also have a Facebook page.
The first thing they are bringing over is Satazius. It is a homage to some very old, very good shooters such as Gradius. Expect your normal shooting and the beloved options that make the games great.
Capcom is going to be working with them to get it on several platforms. These include Steam, GamersGate and Impulse among others. The scheduled release date for their first game is December 20th, for a price of $5.99.

We’re pretty interested in this and we think it will be quite good for the industry as a whole.. It’ll be quite nice to be able to see indie games from all over the world. Especially without having to translate everything ourselves.
