Bungie Enters the FPS MMO World

Bungie is entering the FPS MMO world with Destiny. Activision will be partnering with them on this game.

Vague Terms

Unfortunately not much information is known. We have dealt with vague pictures and comments. Things such as “expertly crafted” and “cooperative” have come up. It also promises to be filled with mystery, action and adventure according to Bungie President Harold Ryan. Yeah, so you get the idea. We will have to see how it shapes up.

The Story of Destiny

Destiny focuses around an attack by an unknown force. It seems a bit odd that something killed most of our race and no one figured out what it was. The remnants of humanity have come together in a city. You will be playing as one of the humans dealing with “The Traveler.” This “Traveler” helped save humanity. Now you must uncover the mysteries of the universe and explore ancient structures. At the same time various creatures have taken over the areas. These will play the part of the environmental hazards. The design is decidedly futuristic.

Similarities to PlanetSide2

There is no mistaking the similarities between these two games. From design to ideas it seems like they want the same type of game. We will see if Bungie can distinguish their game from the many other Science Fiction shooters out today.

Bungie and Customization

They also promise a wide variety of customization options. These vary from character unlocks to vehicles. It is sounding quite similar to other offerings currently on the market. We are wondering what Bungie will be placing as the twist.

Check out Destiny and Pre-Order

Little has been said about it. However Bungie already has a site up where you can pre-order. They are counting on their popularity to drive the game. This seems like a safe bet. However Activision is going to be publishing it. Will this cause problems? Only time will tell.
