Asura’s Wrath is looking amazing, with gameplay similar to classic DMC. With some fans disillusioned over Dante’s new look, this game could be their saving grace.
Frantic attacks, aerial combos and totally crazy action. That’s what hardcore fans want from third person action games like this. That’s what Asura’s Wrath is going to bring them.
The game brings back the popular main character/rival archetype which was popularized in Devil May Cry and expanded in Bayonetta. We have seen two characters with a diverse moveset between the various trailers.
The game also promises to be extremely violent, as we have more videos from Capcom that we can’t show you due to age restrictions. You can check them out at Capcom Unity. But then this is a game for mature audiences, so that is to be expected. It would kind of miss the point if you were a mighty god who hugged kittens and gazed at rainbows.
The main draw seems to be how over-the-top ridiculously huge the bosses are going to be. Even the average bosses are going to be incredibly massive, with one enemy being so big he attacks you after descending from orbit. The entire game seems to have extreme portions like this. Part of the charm of the game is that it seems to use this action in a comedic manner at times.
Asura’s Wrath will be released in early 2012 with no release date confirmed yet. It will be multiplatform on PS3 and X-box 360 with only vague rumors of a PC translation.
Asura’s Wrath is being produced in association with CyberConnect2 studio. What does that mean? We cannot really tell. They did the very good Tail Concerto then descended into making money by creating a huge number of .hack games and Naruto games. This one looks like a real departure from their others though, with a much larger budget.
