Astral Terra Spotlight

Sometimes a game falls through the cracks of the Kickstarter media. Astral Terra was a game like this so we wanted to give it a second look. This sandbox RPG with crafting elements seems like it has quite a bit of promise. It’s also an example of how many developers keep going after KS.

Where Astral Terra is Now

They had a nice Kickstarter that unfortunately did not reach funding. They kept going and got their game through Steam Greenlight. Now they are hoping that momentum can help them raise funding with a “Founder’s Pack” that we will link to later. This is what many developers turn to after missing out on crowdfunding.

Playing Astral Terra

At base it’s a fairly standard sandbox RPG. However what sets it apart is the game’s engine. All the landscapes look quite beautiful, on par with a few areas in the Elder Scrolls Series. This more detailed look really caught our attention and that of many other people.

The game is at a very early stage but the environments are phenomenal. The only thing we saw so far that could use some work was the character models. Hopefully those will improve over time.

What Sets Astral Terra Apart?

It has most of the features you would expect. Random worlds with lots of races. Huge numbers of items. The voxel world is what actually sets everything apart. The terrain has many more morphic properties than in most games and you can even make sculptures. Theoretically you could sculpt an entire titan to live in when the game is finished. If anything this will be what sets it apart and draws people in.

Supporting Astral Terra

If this works for you then check out their founders package that gives people a lot of perks. It’s nice to see people continuing to follow their dreams. We’ll probably be grabbing a copy ourselves. If you are a developer in a similar situation let us know. We might want to hear about you too.
