Many of us may remember the original and very good Alien vs Predator PC game. It had great multiplayer gameplay that still holds out today. Unfortunately modern contenders have been pretty terrible. Indeed, we have not had a decent Aliens game in a while. This is why we are hoping they will be improving things with Aliens Colonial Marines.
Is Aliens Colonial Marines Just a Cash Grab?
Unfortunately this could just be a cash grab. Gearbox is working on it, but they have an unsure track record. They are of course claiming that it isn’t the next Duke Nukem Forever. Of course, some of them still claim that Duke Nukem Forever was good. We suppose that only time will tell whether the game works out.
What sets Aliens Colonial Marines Apart from Aliens vs Predator?
Aliens: Colonial Marines centers mostly on being a marine, obviously. You have to try to “stay frosty” and work with your squad to survive. Overall the game gives more of a survival horror feel than some other games have. Mechanically, we haven’t really seen how it improves on previous games yet. In fact, there appear to be some scripted sequences that the player has no control over.
Overall there is one nice thing, it is that there are new enemy types. This actually isn’t out of the canon of Aliens as they were supposed to mutate all the time. Co-op is another major focus of this new game. You can play through the entire game with a friend as a squadmate.
The Details of the Aliens Colonial Marines Release
This game will available for Playstation 3, PC and Xbox 360 on February 12, 2013. A different version for Wii U will also be coming out later on.
