AKB0048 episode 3 is all about selecting the final understudy candidates. We finally get to see who makes it to the group.
In AKB0048 episode 3, the main group is now with all the other candidates and they are told what song they need to be ready to perform. Then one of the girl’s who is already part of AKB0048 throws a microphone at Nagisa. Turns out it isn’t just a microphone, it is also a sword. Nagisa almost takes out all the girls around her before it goes back to the girl that gave it to her. Why would she give a weapon to someone without telling them? They almost didn’t need to audition a ton of people because they were almost dead. I feel even worse about DES military because the AKB0048 girls are stupid.
After a short training montage where we see the girls learning to battle, we find out their first assignment. They are going to have to protect the AKB0048 during a guerrilla concert. If they don’t want to then they can leave. After the girls go back and forth over whether doing this is right or not the core group learns to fight. This part is the real low point and full of drama. Do not want to go into it much. The best part is when the idols force steaks on all the understudy candidates.
A real idol needs to eat this many steaks. I don't see how any of these girls made it through selection.
Finally it is time for the concert, the girls are dressed in their combat best. The concert battlefield is a massacre. Lolis are dropping left and right. This is the best part of this episode. Lolis should never be put into combat and this shows why.

It was all fake. There was no real resistance force. The shots were all done by paintball guns. Those must be really high powered paintballs because there are explosions. Maybe the cast looked up the best paintball sniper rifle before this adventure began. Still, how are paintballs causing explosions? There are rocks tumbling and things blowing up all over. Hope the AKB0048 had the parents sign a form relieving them of any liability because I bet at least one of those girls died from the rubble or being trampled. At least one would in real life.

Seriously though the new recruits are pretty hardcore sticking it out after the manager treated them like that. I would have totally walked away after that because that is rediculous and if she is fine with that then what is next? Well I guess putting them up against the real military is next since the idols normally have to fight for their lives.
What does she need a bandage for? This seems a bit overdramatic since she is fine later.
Overall the beginning of this episode was pretty slow. Watching them train and worry about the exam wasn’t too thrilling. The ending made up for it with laughs though. It seriously looked like they were trying to wipe out all the lolis on the planet. Seeing them in combat gear forgetting how to use their gun and dropping them all over the place was priceless. I guess in the end it was for the best that this was a terrible joke, because they were not ready at all.
Do not trust this woman. She is pretty much heartless.
On Idolmaster (the real series, not Xenoglossia), the contenders had to be good at performing, not combat. That must’ve been too boring for the makers of this series.
