Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure Episode 39 Review

Episode 39 deals with the stupidest stand of them all in Stardust Crusaders. Even less interesting than the Empress, Wheel of Fortune drives at them very hard and is also a transformer.

The group is led into an accident by a strange car that they can’t see the driver of, except for his huge arm in one part.

Anne also develops a crush on Jotaro which is of no significance unless she turns out to be Joleyne’s mom later. Which is never explained but she’s only a few years younger than him despite Jotaro being massive so it’s possible.

The stand/car chases them around until finally knocking them into a ravine. Kakyoin saves the day with Hierophant Green when he attaches a winch to the enemy stand.

Wheel of Fortune chases the group and almost catches Anne but Jotaro saves her again.

They escape briefly but Wheel of Fortune transformers. The animators once again did an okay job with this but it’s also another example of Araki giving stands multiple powers when he wants to.

Jotaro quickly discovers that the car can shoot gas and gets ignited briefly. It was of course all a trick and he burrowed underground to attack when the enemy did not expect it.

At the end of the episode Enyaba is still grieving but prepares to attack the Joestars with her stand, Justice.

Thoughts on Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure Episode 39

So this episode was terrible. The animation we pretty underwhelming except on Wheel of Fortune itself. The source material was bad. It’s best we try to forget about this part if at all possible. It’s not normally how we feel here but honestly not all the episodes can be winners. The animation team seemed to do the best they could with it. The next episode should be much better.
