The Light of the Darkness is an new, graphically stunning indie action-RPG game. But they need your help to make it a reality.
In the Light of the Darkness you play as Sephius, a being trapped between darkness and light. Your dual nature will we vital to many points in the game. We need to post a correction here, while many of the characters resemble Angels and Demons they are going for a different approach to the universe. There is a lot of symbolic imagery to help you understand the story.
The Light of the Darkness combines several elements that you may find familiar from class games such as Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. It’s most impressive to see an indie game with artwork to rival a game such as that.
One very interesting aspect of the game is that you can absorb a vital energy called essence. Essence allows you to customize your character’s health, magic and other abilities to suit your playstyle.
Throughout the game you will collect various power-ups and weapons that will help you through. Overall this is a standard “Metroidvania” style game, but to be fair that style of game is usually very good.
Several of these shots are taken from an early alpha. These will likely be changed.
Gameplay aside, developers Epifanica and Virtue Games will be crafting an intricate story for you. There will be a deep history waiting for you as soon as you start the game up.
Another important aspect to mention in this game is the fact that it is a Brazilian production. We’re all aware there is a big of a stigma attached to Brazil in the North American gaming world due to kids in LAN clubs ruining many games. Maplestory is a good example of this problem.
Why does it matter though? Because this is Brazil’s chance to show that they can put out a serious and thought provoking game to wreck the stereotypes. There are plenty of hard working, adult Brazilians who deserve a shot.
To this end we would like to mention that they will only be going ahead with the game if they receive enough funding on their Kickstarter.
