PlanetSide 2 has been a long time coming. For eight years people have been waiting for this game. The developers have noticed this, and they have created a video about it.
As you can see, people are still excited about this. Die hard fans are chomping at the bit to enjoy a new version of the classic. Several of us here at Nerd Age are part of that fandom as well. But then we never support a game which we do not think has promise.
The Reason PlanetSide and PlanetSide 2 draw people in
So what is the draw of the game for those who did not play the original? Basically, PlanetSide 2 will be an MMO/FPS hybrid. This basically means persistent terrain and real rewards for victory. You can gain serious advantages for your side by capturing and holding terrain. It also leads to lasting partnerships with your team and incredible fights.
On the scale of PlanetSide 2
The other draw for new players on PlanetSide 2 is the scale. We are hoping that they keep the same huge scale. The original had massive fights across worlds. It had a whole universe of war for you to explore. If they can keep that same feeling then we will be in for a good time.

Be sure to check out their main site and register for the beta. We also have some questions of our own that have not been cleared up yet. There have been many rumors, but we are unsure whether it will stay with a subscriber format like usual or free-to-play later. We are reaching an age where nearly every game goes into the micro-transaction model. Our money would be on that happening eventually.
