That is right, Ludum Dare is finished for now. Now it is time for us to play the games. We are going to go over a few that we checked out here. Do not be offended if your game was not featured, with the sheer volume of different games we kind of half to go at random. At the very least it is a lesson that you should make your Ludum Dare game stand out as much as possible. We are also going to shy away from those featured previously. While we hold you in high regard you have had your time in the Ludum Dare sun.
Ludum Dare 24 Games
Space Ham – FunByJohn
This little game similar to Osmose is fairly fun. It adds another element of a tongue. However it really speaks to this genre of games where you eat things and get bigger that it hasn’t evolved much. We certainly can’t blame someone who had little time for not improving the genre, but it would be good to see a game that really shakes up this formula.
Primordial Punchout – TestSubject06
This particular game has some serious potential for being improved. At the start you have no legs and just a light. It would be nice to see a metroidvania like this in which you have nothing for big parts of the game. Or where your powerups get switched around and you must make do with certain ones. Overall this particular project of an evolving test subject has a ton of potential beyond what you see at base.
The Gift/Curse of Evolution by HeroesGrave
Many games stand out for their gameplay in this competition. This particular one struck us not for the graphics but the concept. You spawn in a world that grows and changes all around you. You have to defeat the other human and gain supremacy from the world. Overall this is a very interesting concept. We would love to see this done in Ubisoft’s From Dust engine. Items can also evolve to give you a better fighting chance. This seems like a concept that has sadly never been executed properly in the modern age.
Of course these games are just a taste of what you can expect. You should head on over and play some of them yourselves. Suggest some for us if you enjoy them.
