First Impressions: Campione!

Campione! Magic Horse

Campione! is about a couple of people that have to intercept between fighting gods for the sake of humanity.

Campione! starts with Godou looking for the person who he is supposed to deliver a tablet to for his grandfather. His grandfather was a big player and apparently women would give him tablets because of that. Godou runs into a strange woman speaking Italian during his search. The girl is named Erica and we soon find out she is a knight that fights gods. She pulls a sword out of a mechanical lion’s head. Towards the end of the episode a magician fights a god and Godou and Erica stop it by the power of making out.

Campione! The power of making out

Campione! seriously has the two main characters make out and then everything changes and goes their way. What is up with that? No explanation or anything leading up to that happening. I am sure that they will try to explain it next episode, but I am also quite sure I don’t care becauseĀ  that is stupid.

The main characters both seem pretty flat. Godou is a typical bland male lead that is supposed to be someone that the audience can identify with and live vicariously through. Have not seen many of those. Oh wait yes I have. Also he seems a bit perverted. Nothing new there either. Erica is tsundere. Nothing else to say here.

Campione! tsundere

The story about saving people from wars between the gods is not looking too good so far. It does not help that they keep breaking up the story with awkward fanservice. Nothing is more hot than staring at a girl in her underwear while she is unconscious. The story is not really filled out yet though. They have a lot more to explain in the future along with why making out it a superpower.

The artwork is pretty nice. I like how Erica has mini twintails instead of the full on twintails that many tsundere girls have. It makes here a bit more of an individual to me instead of another mass produced tsundere girl they are churning out lately.

Overall this show was not that good. Maybe it will grow into something better later, but I don’t think I will be sticking it out.
