Dungeon Defenders is not a terribly hard game, but some missions might give the uninitiated some trouble. That’s why we’ll give you this super basic guide.
- Dungeon Defenders can get hard if you are under-leveled or equipped. If you are having trouble at higher difficulties, trying it on easy will get you through and give you some excellent items from the bosses.
- Boss items have random stats, but can at times be phenomenal. You can beat the first boss multiple times on easy to get better weapons.
- Trap damage is one of the most useful abilities for getting through the non-boss part of a wave. Try to find armor with this on it. Radius is also useful.
- Personal Hero damage is more useful against bosses, as they have a habit of targeting traps that attack them.
- You should have a high damage weapon and a high trap bonus weapon as soon as you can. You can switch between them for average waves or bosses.
- Survival mode is also an excellent way to level up, just set max traps on an early level then level them as much as you can. You can access it by ticking a box in the mission menu.

- Beating it on easy also unlocks a secret room at the top of the stairs, which contains quite a bit of mana and some very good weapons.
- Save up for a pet when you can, the boost a pet gives you is significant early on.
- Be sure to try all the heroes, as all of them have very different styles of play. You’ll likely be able to beat a map with one hero that you can’t with another.
- You can also use the hero switch to power level. Get a character you have that has significant trap bonuses and set it to hard or insane. Set your traps, then switch to a low level character. Simply repair and upgrade with your low level, and you’ll gain massive experience and significant mana.
- The final boss of Dungeon Defenders is not meant to be fought by one person, if you want to you will need significant speed and stats. On hard and insane, it is practically impossible to beat him without massive stats or teammates. That said, he is quite easy with partners.

Loving this game!
I just beat the last boss on Solo (Easy) with a Level 31 Apprentice. The stage took over 90 minutes and I failed it twice before hand.
The battle was borderline impossible – you have to be extremely precise with your weapon/barricade placement because if you don’t, when the dragon appears and starts dicking around for 5+ minutes, you cannot be near the crystals at all to repair or shoot anything.
I [[[[barely]]]] beat him. I would like to know how many people have actually beaten the game soloing. I bet its almost no one.
