Blockscape is another sandbox game where you can build whatever you want. Blockscape is going in a more realistic looking route though. The blocks have better looking textures than many other games of this type. The trees have leaf prints and the water reflects the landscape. I can’t help but wonder what it will look like when it is complete.
Right off the bat though I need to tell you that this game is in beta and the early stages of it at that. They plan on having three different phases of the beta and they are still in phase one. When they get to stage two they will add more game mods like defense and survival/RPG. For now there is just normal and God mode. God mode is the creative mode where you have everything you need and Normal is the mode where the player collects things to build with.
Building in Blockscape
While Blockscape gives you the standard variety of items to build with it does something a bit different than most. There are different ways to use those materials when you put them down instead of just the standard block shape. There are trangular shapes going in several different directions, a natural looking slope, and a thin layer that can be used as a wall or to thicken the floor for examples.
Demo or Buy?
For now there is a demo that has most of the features of the full game. If you plan on using God mode or saving though you will need to buy Blockscape. There will most likely be even more differences between the two in the future.
When I was first trying to play there was no controls shown anywhere, so if you are planning on playing this tutorial might be useful so you don’t have to hunt for what to do.
